Base
Good foundations mean a good building..

What do I need for a base?
To ensure that the building is stiff and strong, all our
buildings require a firm and level base. The foundations of your
building are as important to the structure as the foundations of a
house. This should be done with concrete or a timber frame base. If
you'd like us to take the strain, we have our own in house base
team with years of experience. We offer a free local site survey to
see the area and give you a full and final quotation.
What are bearers?
The bearers go under the building and are a spacer between it
and the concrete base. They are designed to give air flow under the
building to prevent condensation build-up, helping to prevent rot
and prolonging the life of the building. If you are having a timber
framed base these are not required.
What base gets laid?
Sometimes a simple paved area can be installed. This is
recommended for garden
sheds, small summerhouses.
However for log
cabins, home
offices and some larger summerhouses the construction of a
10cm - 15cm thick layer of concrete which will provide the
foundation for the building is recommended. This service normally
takes a day to complete (weather permitting).
Please see the installation page for further base
information.

base preparation. We can also supply instructions for people
wanting to erect any building themselves, in particular log cabins.
