Environment
We all need to do our bit...

What effect am I having on the environment by using
timber?
All Square Houses buildings are
produced using timber from sources dedicated to the principle of
'sustained yield' and are FSC or PEFC accredited.
All companies we work closely with are
also dedicated to the above.
For each mature tree harvested, two
young trees are planted. Young trees for old helps the environment
by reducing the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide,
the main greenhouse gas, is a result of producing energy. It takes
approximately five times the energy to produce a reinforced
concrete beam and nineteen times the energy to produce an RSJ,
compared to a timber beam or joist of the same
strength. Square Houses remain supportive to the
principle of efficient forestry management on a sustained yield
basis.
What timber do you
use?
At Square Houses we pride
ourselves on our good quality timber. We use European red and white
woods, commonly known as 'Deal'. The quality of the wood we use is
a key factor with regards to the companies we deal with.
All the timber is selected by our
staff keeping high quality and continuity at forefront of every
build.
